The fourth annual project meeting of the CLIMAFORCEELIFE project took place on 12-13 September 2023 in Sofia, hosted by the Southwestern State Forestry Enterprise of Bulgaria (SWSFE). The meeting was attended by participants from each project partner, in person or online.
The program of the first day was a meeting in the conference hall of City Avenue hotel in Sofia, the second day was devoted to a field visit.
During the first meeting day, project partners met to discuss the progress of the project actions, achieved results and experienced challenges and obstacles. A Steering committee meeting was also held on this day.
On the second day a field visit was made to demonstration sites on the territory of the SFU Nevestino, where the participants had the opportunity to observe forestry activities that are carried out with a harvester which was purchased from project funds. The specialized forestry machine is highly automated. Under the project, 10 ha were afforested with drought-resistant tree species, the results of which were reported at the working meeting.
The participants in the working meeting were also introduced to the activities of the “Rila Monastery Nature Park” Directorate, where they were introduced to the rich plant and animal composition of the Park’s territory and visited the Rila Monastery itself.
