Happy International Day of Forests!

On March 21, 2025, over 12,000 Quercus pubescens saplings were afforested by the employees of the Central Office of the Southwestern State Forest Enterprise (SWSFE) in the area of the State Forest Unit “Rila Monastery“ as part of the Forest Week campaign. A priority habitat from a Natura 2000 area is being restored in this area.

50 employees of the SWSFE participated. The Quercus pubescens is a local drought-resistant species that has been increasingly used for afforestation in the context of climate change in the last few years, which is also the subject of the international project CLIMAFORCEELIFE, of which the SWSFE is an associated beneficiary.
