SWSFE employees were trained in working with a specialized harvester machine

In the period 17-21.07.2023, on the territory of the SHU “Vitoshko-Studena”, a training of employees of the SWSFE on working with a harvester was carried out. The machine was manufactured by LOGSET Finland and was purchased by the Southwestern State Forest Enterprise with European funds under the CLIMAFORCEELIFE project. The aim is experimental thinning and transformation of conifer plantations by applying modern work methods. The training is conducted by the supplier company, the main trainer Jari-Pekka Ulikoski is from Finland and he is extremely satisfied of the performance of the SWSFE employees who are already independently operating with the equipment.

The Harvester’s software allows for the measuring of the amount of wood that has been harvested, both within the working day and cumulatively for the entire site. This will make it possible to refine the amount of wood harvested and implement better control. In the event that a forwarder is also provided to transport the cut wood, there is a possibility to provide a software connection between the two machines and through a GPS system the forwarder can define the location of the cut amount of wood. The new machine is highly automated and provides comfort and safe work for the operator. It is a modern technique of the latest generation, with which the project activities will be carried out in a timely manner.
